artist & makers meetup in Nottingham
Next Event – Hunter’s Moon
7th October 2026 6:30pm The Malt Cross Workshop
Why Lunar Society?
The original Lunar Society met by the full moon in the 1700s — a circle of inventors, industrialists, and radicals including Erasmus Darwin, Josiah Wedgwood, and the painter Joseph Wright. They shared discoveries, challenged assumptions, and helped shape the Enlightenment.
We borrow their name in the same spirit! Gathering in Nottingham to share projects, ideas, and new ways of thinking.
How does it work?
We meet on or near the full moon (October–March). Usually a Wednesday (but not always).
Each night begins with a round-the-table show & tell — bring a project or idea, share challenges, get feedback, or just spark conversation. Short presentations are limited to 5–7 minutes in a PechaKucha style to keep things lively.
There’s time to mingle and talk, and we finish with either a guest presentation or a hands-on make-and-take activity.
Where do we meet?
We now gather at the Malt Cross in Nottingham, in their subterranean workshop space. It’s right in the city centre on St James’s Street.
